Zion National Park


The Zion National Park in Utah is said to be better than the Grand Canyon. With close to 230 square miles of sightseeing, people come from around the world to hike, camp or even horseback ride. The park’s natural wonders include the Great Basin, the Mojave Desert and the Colorado Plateau.

To help you get around the Zion National Park, there is a free bus system that will bring you around the park while providing you with tips of the hot spots. You are able to rent bikes from a place called Springdale Cycles. This is recommended because there are numerous trails to take. The Pa ‘rus Bike Trail is the most popular trail to travel and see wildlife galore. Along with renting a bike, you can book a single or multi day trips with a guide through the park. Another company to take a tour with is the Zion Adventure Company. They have everything from climbing to camping gear available for rent. Proper footwear is essential for year-round hiking and the Zion Adventure Company has that too.

For a brief history lesson on the history of the lands, the Giant Screen Theater in Springdale will help you to understand how Zion National Park once was. As one of the forty minute features, the “Gods of Zion” tells the story of the Anasazi and other settlers that have traveled through Zion. The Giant Screen Theater is outdoors and can be taxing in the heat around mid-day, but this $8 experience is one that should not be passed up.

While visiting the Zion National Park, be sure to visit a few other attractions within. There are a few galleries worth seeing during your stay: The Firmage Weiler Gallery, the Driftwood Gallery, the Fatali Photography of the Southwest Gallery and the Worthington Gallery. In these galleries you will see featured painting, sculptures and photographs. The galleries also have an excellent assortment of Native American Art and ceramics.

Like anywhere in America, the Fourth of July is quite a celebration. If you make it out to Zion National Park on that day, you will be bombarded with parades, games and live music to dance to all night. It can get crowded, but with more people having a good time, it truly is a celebration.

With a good vacation, comes a good place to relax and rest your feet. If camping is not your thing then the Desert Pearl is located in Springdale, close to the Zion National Park. The rooms are incredibly spacious and decorated with much attention to detail. Although it can be too cold at night and in the morning, some rooms have a nice balcony overlooking the river. Also included in your stay, is a wide-ranging video collection at no cost to you. With rooms starting at about $64 a night, you can not get a better deal.

Zion’s beauty is a great way to relax your inner being and be one with nature. Do not tell too many people about it because it is the South West’s little getaway, and a great For capturing the splendor of a place without having to deal with the crowds at the Grand Cayon, visiting the Zion National Park is a great way to share the experiences with your loved ones.
