Haiti

Haiti is an amazing island paradise that offers many attractions for visiting tourists. Warm weather, sandy beaches and gorgeous natural beauty are just some of the reasons that people flock to Haiti. If you’re planning a trip to this amazing island, here are some things you simply cannot miss.

Cap-Haitien

This amazing Haitian city features gorgeous Spanish type architecture, beautiful weather and easily navigated city streets. Along Rue 21 heading towards the cape area are some of Haiti’s most amazing beaches.

Port Au Prince

Here you’ll get a spectacular view of the harbor. At the Marche de Fer, or Iron Market, you can experience the color and activity of Haitian life as you browse shops and stalls run by local vendors.

Here, you can purchase religious items, local handicrafts, homemade soap, and more offered by the natives of this quaint island.

Parc National Historique La Citadelle

This fortress took fifteen years to construct and is the work of Henri Christophe. Christophe built this citadel in 1820 to guard against an attack from the French. This breathtaking structure offers an amazing view of the city of Cap-Haitien. During its heyday, this fortress was impossible to penetrate. It still features more than 100 cannons and an amazing 50,000 cannonballs.

Bassins Bleu Waterfall

These basins, as they’re called, are three blue pools connected by a spectacular waterfall. There are legends attached to these basins such as those about water nymphs that disappear when they hear humans approach. Minerals that have dissolved impart the amazing azure color, and make the Bassins Bleu a major tourist draw!

There are lots of other gorgeous and exciting things to see on the island of Haiti. While the country itself is rather impoverished, it’s still a draw for tourists. The amazing music, spectacular art, friendly natives and rich heritage make Haiti a top destination for people seeking that secluded island getaway.
