Coney Island in New York

Beaches. Amusement Parks. Aquariums. With such an abundance of activities, it is no surprise that people are flocking to Coney Island. Located in New York, this destination has been providing tourists with a place to spend money, enjoy family time, and culture. Known for its history and entertainment, Coney Island has always been a hot spot. No matter what you like to do during your free time, it is certain that you can spend hours at this island.

One of the most popular places to visit on Coney Island is the Astroland Amusement Park. Here you can find dozens of thrilling antique rides, including the infamous ‘Cyclone’ rollercoaster. Aside from having frightening roller coasters, there are also historic rides, including the B&B carousel. If you enjoy an adventure and are dying to spend the day at an amusement park, it is highly recommended. Looking for Disney World? Astroland Amusement Park is certainly far away from this type of park, as it hosts old fashioned rides.

Not into theme parks? That is not a problem. Coney Island also has an ice skating rink, as well as an overflow of great food. Therefore, no matter what you are looking to do, Coney Island has it all. Although it is open year round, many people tend to stay away during the cold winter months. Nevertheless, the shops and restaurants are still open during December and January. For some, this is the perfect time to go, as it is quiet and peaceful. For others, it is a romantic destination, especially when the snow is falling.

While there are rides, a boardwalk that brings you directly to the beach, and an aquarium, there are also other sights to see. Surprisingly, there is often a circus right on the island and there usually is a freak show right on the boardwalk. This type of atmosphere is common for Coney Island, and tourists seem to love its individuality. It is not proper or lavish, but it absolutely has history and nostalgia. If you are looking for a place to enjoy yourself, laugh, and see absurd sights, then perhaps you should take a trip.

Coney Island may not be luxurious like Disney World, but it has much more history and personality. With freak shows, interesting individuals, great shops, and rides, the opportunities are endless. Visitors love the fact that while it is not in the crowded Times Square area, it still brings in a sundry of unique people. If you do plan on visiting New York, you cannot leave without experiencing such distinctiveness. For some, Coney Island is the heart of the city. It has the unique persona that we think of when New York is mentioned. It is not afraid to be different; it always pleases tourists, and can be experienced at any time of the year. Therefore, if you do happen to stumble upon the city, Coney Island is one spot that you shouldn’t miss. If you enjoy looking at New York from a different perspective, then this is your destination.
