Freedom Trail - Boston

The Freedom Trail in Boston, Massachusetts is a three-mile long walk that tackles sixteen historical sites. A ninety-minute tour is offered through the National Park Service, but you can enjoy it all by yourself. Just make sure to grab a map at the Boston National Historical Park Visitor Center.

The reason you do not need a tour guide for this trip is because there is a painted red and brick line that marks where you need to go. All you need to do is follow the line through Boston and have a map on hand to tell you what significance each of the historical buildings hold.

The trail begins in the Boston Commons and takes you on an adventure. Along the trail you will see, Faneuil Hall, the Old State House and the Old North Church. You will also see the Copp's Hill Burial Ground. Towards the end, the trail will lead you into Charlestown, where you will get to see the world famous Bunker Hill Monument and the U.S.S. Constitution.

While in Boston, you are going to need a place to crash after a long day of walking and sightseeing. If you can afford $365 a night, the Boston Harbor Hotel is a great place to kick off your shoes and relax. Located right on one of Boston’s fine wharfs, the Boston Harbor Hotel’s is close to all of the cities attractions. The view of the harbor from the hotel should give you something to brag about. If you want to take a break from the Freedom Trail and the historical sites, you could swing by the Boston Aquarium. The Aquarium has a lot of different animals and an IMAX theater for your enjoyment. The Aquarium is about two wharfs away, which is a perfect distance to take a walk and get some fresh air.

If you still want to enjoy your stay, but $365 a night is a bit much then try The Marriott Copley Place Hotel. This amazing hotel is reasonably priced at around $169 per night, and the location is spectacular. You are minutes away from great shopping, dinning and Historical Land Marks. Also, the Museum of Fine Arts is just a short walk away. If you don’t feel like walking, try taking the subway. The “T” is located so close; it will be extremely convenient to get anywhere.

When your stomach is talkin’, and those shoes need a break from walkin’, then hit up the North End, otherwise known as Little Italy. Before you leave, make sure to try some Italian Pastries from Mike’s Pastry. A few recommendations are the “Lobster Claw” and the Caramelized Cannoli. After you are done, hop back on the trail to Paul Revere’s house

You could take a tour, but all you really need is a map and a pair of legs. The history that you will encounter on the Freedom Trail is breathtaking. Make sure to plan a few days to enjoy the sites and relax while doing so. After all, you should enjoy a relaxing vacation.
