"Simplicity and functionality" 2009-08-01
By Hamilton (Hawaii)
This knife is fantastic, you could easily spend up to $300 from a different knife company and not get much more quality than what you see here. This knife is a workhorse, its tough and versatile for just about any job that would normally require anything from machetes to a kitchen knife.

And if this knife can outperform for a United States Marine, it will definitely outperform for you.

"GO USMC and the K-BAR" 2010-01-23
By Karen Best (Wellington, NV)
This knife is as true today as it was in the 1960's when my dad was first issued his K-bar in the Marine Corps. He lost it when he was divorced 5 years ago and has been making passive comments about it ever since. I bought this and took it to our trohpy shop and had his years or service engraved into the blood line and his name tooled into the leather sheath and gave it to him for Chrismtas and he was almost in tears. This knife meets all Current and Former USMC standards as the elite fighting and utility knife and is something that they all covet. Very nice production.

"Poor Quality Control" 2010-01-16
By C. Moser
I bought this knife about a week ago...and it arrived very fast(3 day) and i loved that the shipping was to speedy. but the quality control checking was just horrible. the blade wasnt sharp at all. it could hardly cut paper, the serrration was just a little bit sharper. on the tip of the blade one side was sharpened to the top which is way to high for the edge to be. and on the other side the tip wasnt sharpened so it was rounded and there was no point at all. the middle of the blade was scratched. It is a great knife dont get me wrong. but the quality control on the knife i purchased wasnt very good at all. the leather sheath it comes with is very tight and not very well made (comes from mexico and not the USA like the knife itself) so i would suggest the Kydex Sheath(i bought one as well). other than the quality control the knife is a great knife! my best friend has one and it is just amazing! recommened for sure.

"Great knife" 2010-01-07
By J. Anderson
I just received this knife today and it surpassed my expectations. Whenever I order a knife online, I do a "cardboard test", cutting the packing that the knife came in with it. This knife came very sharp, cutting over an inch into the box's edge with a very light swing. The only two things that are not great about it have to do with the sheath. For one, the logo and insignia printed on the sheath were not as light as I would have liked, but that doesn't really matter. Also, the strap that secures the knife into the sheath was extremely tight, and does not button easily. These are just minor details though, if you want a really good sheath, buy a new one, like the Kydex sheath Black Kydex Sheath Fits 1211, 1212, 1217, 1218, 1219, 1220, 4, 1281 (KB1216) Category: Knife Files.

"Don't they sharpen these things prior to shipping?" 2009-12-18
By JP

Hey, I've wanted a Ka-Bar for about 20 years and I'm not sure why it too me so long to get one. It is a very good knife. That said, I just couldn't give it 5 stars as the knife I got today couldn't cut butter. Seriously - it was crazy dull. Now, I'm an ex-chef so maybe I'm a bit particular about knifes but I've bought $5 pocket knifes with far better edges. Anyway, I gave it a little attention and it is now a REAL knife that can - you know - cut stuff. I expect it to last forever.

"Won't Ship to FPO?" 2009-12-07

First, I should say that I own the knife and the knife itself would get five stars. I gave this a poor rating because this USMC knife won't ship to military addresses.

"Amazing Knife for an amazing price!" 2010-01-19
By C. Moser
this knife comes razor sharp right out of the box. to test it i filled up two 2 liter soda bottles with water. and sliced the tops off both of them without any water from the bottom half spilling out. pretty amazing! its tough looking and feels great in the hand. it is a very durable knife. my best friend has the same one and has never had to sharpen it in about 6 years of use. the blade is incredibly hard and holds a great edge! very satisfied with this knife. the sheath isnt all that great but i bought a Kydex sheath with it. recommended for sure.

"Great knife, great price" 2009-12-30
By smilingstu (California)
This is a nice looking knife with a nice weight to it. It feels sturdy, not like it would break when you need to use it like so many other cheaper knives. It comes with a leather sheath (I wasnt sure if it would when I bought it) so I bought the hard kydex sheath. This hard kydex sheath fits the knife much better and makes it easier to access it quickly. The leather sheath it comes with is very tight fitting so I would recommend you buy the hard sheath.

Overall I would recommend this knife. Its great looking and well crafted.

"KA-BAR 1212" 2009-12-30
By T. Reza
I ordered this knife a couple weeks ago and am amazed by the quality of the knife. I had seen the same knife at a gun show prior to ordering it off of Amazon.com, and am glad I waited. This same knife at the gun show costed $65.00. I bought it off of Amazon.com for $46.40; that is a saving of $18.60. For the same knife! The blade is 1095 Carbon-Steel and was sharp enough right out of the box to slash right through two filled water bottles. The knife is a little bit heavy, but it feels good to hold. The Kraton rubber handle is very comfortable. Overall, I'd definitely give this knife a 5/5 star rating. I recommened this knife to anyone seeking a great hunting/survival knife. You won't be disapointed.

"good not perfect" 2009-11-08
By C. Lopez (Southern California)
When I first bought the Ka-Bar I thought it was amazing. Thick blade, nice length blade, nice bowie shape, and the black finish looks amazing. But it has its flaws the serrations came very sharp but the rest of the blade wasnt very sharp. After looking at it and testing it out a bit it seemed perfect, but another flaw is the tip around the 4TH day of having the knife the tip broke off. Looking past the the lack of tip strength it is a good knife.

"Serious Bush, Survival Knife!" 2010-01-30
By Brad J. Niemann (Hayden, Idaho)
This USA made Ka-Bar Becker Campanion is a stout knife. It is probably, well it is the most heavy duty knife I have ever held and used. It will take a beating and not break! You can split wood with this knife and the tang is 1/4 inch thick! This knife is a clunker and weighs 1 pound. Yes, it is defintely a heavy knife and don't buy it for a light weight hiking knife. It's a serious survival, off the trail, camping knife that will last a life time. You can sharpen this knife to no end! A great knife that hold it's own with other serious survival knives with a better price too!

"One bad blade!" 2010-01-28
By L. Hoover (AZ and NV)
This knife isn't pretty at all, it's plain and simple. It's not light, it's not stainless, but it's awesome! There is no doubt in my mind that this is the knife you need when you run out of bullet's for hunting/survival. It didn't come razor sharp, but then again I didn't expect it to. It did come sharp enough to split a whole lot of wood on my patio though. After I split the wood, I tried to throw it into my fence like my other knife's. Not a good idea cause it hit flat and knocked off the darn picket into my neighbor's yard, still would've hurt pretty bad if it hit someone. My neighbor then came over and was admiring it so much that he ordered one from his Iphone right then and there. After we whacked all the tree limbs off that we could reach I got a stone out and put a nice edge on it. If you want a knife that will last that you can beat the hell out of, this is it, yeah it's not stainless and the finish wears off but so what!? At this price it's just an awesome knife to have when SHTF!

"The Ka-Bar Campanion" 2010-01-27
By Blake R. Rosengren (Camarillo, CA)
This is a great knife. It is heavy, strong, sharp, and feels good in your hand. 2 things could have been better, the finish on the blade wears off with use, and I would like to see a stainless version.

"Now that's a knife" 2010-01-23
By David F. (Lynn, MA)
As others have said this is nice hefty piece of steel. At 1/4" thick it's fairly heavy but that also makes it likely that in a camping/hunting/survival situation you're not going to have to worry about breaking it. Mine came with a decent edge, it cut leather but definitely benefited from some work on a sharpening stone, which seems to be the norm with knives today. The sheath is also nice the knife locks in fairly securely without using the added security strap. On your hip you don't even notice the weight of the knife but when you hold it you know you can chop through a fair size branch if you need to. I've looked at much higher priced knives that won't do any better than this one.

"An International hit" 2010-01-21
By K. Yusuf Salahuddin (Maryland,USA)
After reading the early reviews on the BK2 I bought one. It was my baby until my brother who is overseas asked for it ( Drat ). So naturally being the big brother, I handed it over to him (with a few minor whimpers). Then I bought another one and an old friend of mine took a shine to it. Guess what? Yep, that's two of them gone.
Now my plan is buy two so that I have at least one to fall back on. Everyone's going on about how great the BK2 is. It is that and more, but here's a biting criticism of the knife. I just can't seem to hold onto mine! It's that good. I've been pining for a survival / camping / hunting knife for over two years until I saw the BK2. It's an unbelievable knife. Both mine came hair shaving sharp at an extremely reasonable price; and best of all it's made in The U.S.A.
Ka-Bar and Becker could teach a few things to those who send our jobs overseas.

"AMAZING KNIFE" 2010-01-30
By C. Carter (North Carolina)
I have had this knife for about a month now and I carry it everyday. I have always wanted a Spyderco knife, but never have been willing to spend that much money on a knife. This knife is one of the best values you will ever find out there. This knife arrives very sharp and very well-made. I thought this might not be the case seeing as it is made in China but I took a chance and I'm very happy I did. This knife is the best EDC (Every Day Carry) knife I have owned. If you are in the market for a great sharp EDC knife so not let this offer pass you by. You will not regret buying this knife.

"Great knife, great price." 2010-01-19
By Edward Wix (Sunshine State)
Unlike other Spyderco kifes, this one is not made in the USA, but that's what saves on the cost. It is still Spyderco quality and a great EDC knife. If you want a great video review, go to YouTube and look at Nutnfancy's review of it, that was the tipping point in making up my mind.

"Outstanding value" 2010-01-19
By Octos (New England, USA)
I had heard many things about this knife. Most of them positive, but a few folks crying about the "made in china" thing. I received mine last week and I am glad to report that I am very pleased. This is an incredible value and a very nicely made knife. It's price does not indicate what you are getting for your money.
The Blade shape and finish is top notch, and the edge was very sharp out of the box. There is ZERO degree of lateral or vertical play upon lockup. The outer scales, skeletonized liner, and brass bushings on the blade are what you would expect on knives costing two to three times as much!
If you are considering an EDC knife look NO further. ORDER NOW! You will not be disappointed.

"Left hand joy" 2010-01-10
By E. Berry (Lincoln Park, Michigan USA)
I bought both the plain and serrated combo models. This is one of the few knives available that accomodates left handed owners, tip up or tip down. The pocket clip can be installed on all four corners of the knife. I am always very careful to make sure I can at least reverse the clip to the other side of the knife. Unfortunately, many knives do not even have that ability. Make a knife that has all four corners covered and you have a company that is thinking about ALL possible owners. A lot of Spyderco knives don't have the versatility of the Tenacious for clip location. But, there are a few e.g. the Stretch, Persistance. Also, to my shear joy, the Spyderco Military can be had in a special purpose made left handed model. Love the miliary. Back to the Tenacious, I am very very happy with everything about this knife. It's light, not too long in the pocket, very quick opening, sharp as all get out, G10 handle that's grippy grippy, and sooooo afordable for the quality of this knive. Carries like it's not even there. Man, I wish they had a digi cammo model....SPYDERCO MAKE A DIGI CAMMO TENACIOUS!!!

"Mtech Extreme Tactical Pocket Knife" 2009-12-27
By METOOTECH
COMMENT:
When I read the Product Descriptions and Reviews of knives being sold here on Amazon, a lot of times it makes me laugh because they are so full of misinformation. I guess this is because the sellers and reviewers are not knife dealers and don't know that much about knives in general. But hey, that's ok, because everybody is entitled to their opinion. When rating a knife, I don't try to compare a $10.00 knife with a $100.00 knife. This is a good knife for the money and is all metal construction with aluminum handles. This knife comes in 2 sizes, the one being sold here is the larger size. According to the importers of this knife, the blade has an urban camouflage coating with a netting pattern design.

DESCRIPTION:
Mtech Tactical style linerlock pocket folder
Model # MX-8027A
Import

DETAILS:
This is a linerlock folding knife. 4 7/8" closed. 3 3/4" 44O stainless steel, plain edge modified drop point blade, with a netting urban camo finish. Dual thumb studs manual open. The knife has a post / spacer open back design. Black stainless steel pocket clip that has been folded for deep pocket carry. Length open is 8 5/8" & weight is 4.8 oz.

"nice--but DANGEROUS" 2009-12-08
By R. Alejo (Bay Area, CA)
I just got this thing today. I opened the package and was pleasantly surprised to see how easy this thing opens. So far so good. Then, I noticed the absurdly small flange the manufacturer uses as a lock, and, just out of curiosity, I tried to force the blade closed while it was in the locked position (safely of course). To my dismay, the "lock" gave after exerting about as much pressure as it takes to shut my desk drawer. In other words, it closed, while locked, almost as easily as it flicked open. Terrible, terrible design flaw. Amazon should drop this item, or else wait for the products liability suit that is certain to follow with this POC. Needless to say, mine will be in the mail tomorrow. Shipping was fast, though I'm not sure that's a good thing in this case...

Received knife within the window of shipping requested. Knife feels solid, smooth action, opens fast one handed. Folded it is aprox. 5", so it's a little bigger then what most would consider a pocket knife. It's perfect as a general purpose camping knife. My son likes it because it's cool looking! You won't be disappointed.

"Excellent Value !!" 2010-01-24
By Eric M. Smith
Rugged, well built knife. Perfect features for carrying every day, and slim enough to slip inside the waistband. Blade is very sharp, smooth one handed opening, hefty and large enough for self defense. This knife is put together well, with no rivets and all quality fasteners. Locking mechanism could be nicer, but is effective. After looking over this knife, I would easily pay 2x as much.

I Wanted a knife for auto emergencies and functional enough to be used for everyday personal safety. Most emergency knifes are either too small, have a bright color or not very functional as a personal safety knife.

This knife fits comfortably in my hand, is large enough to intimidate, has a neutral color and can be used for auto emergencies.

This is a true emergency knife.

"Great all-purpose knife for the car" 2009-11-17
By Joe Airaudi (Texas)
I got this knife as an alternative to those little orange safety hammers for my car. It has a seatbelt cutter, glass-breaking nub, and good sturdy blade. This will be great for cutting rope, opening boxes, and all the others stuff you have to do when out and about. I keep it out and handy (03-06 Expedition owners: this fits perfectly in the PDA holder in the center console!). Knife is nice and heavy, and the blade is sharp. Made in China, but what isn't. Very happy with the knife for about $16, you can't go wrong.

A beautiful blade. Strong, sharp (needs some work), and endlessly useful. Fun to carry around, great for party tricks. Sheath is very easy to open with one hand, metal clip holds firm to clothing and whatnot. Go to work with a diamond dust sharpener and make yourself a double edged razor with a wicked point. Excellent knife for the price.
