Philadelphia

Philadelphia is the home of a lot of American History. This is a place where you have to visit the attractions and not just lay down by the pool. Philadelphia, in Greek means, “City of Brotherly Love.” Brotherly love is a perfect name for this ethnically mixed city. Regardless of where you end up visiting, you will see history and culture come to life.

To kick off your history lesson and your trip, you need to go to Independence Hall. Here you will have the honor of standing in the very place where the Declaration of Independence was signed. The Colonial architecture will allow you to separate yourself from the fast paced world as we know it. You will be able to envision yourself living in the Colonial period. Right near by, there are a few other sites to see.

The Liberty Bell is a historical spectacle that needs to be seen once in your lifetime. It is not really something you would want to spend too much time on, but seeing it once would be nice. You should also go see the Betsy Ross House and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Right near Independence Hall is a great place to top off your trip to the land of history. The City Tavern is a great way to enjoy some nice down-home cooking.

If you are looking for some other flavors in the area, the Le Bec-Fin French restaurant is a sure hit to please you taste buds. Le Bec-Fin provides its guests with a wonderful atmosphere and superb wine selection. Even the French claim that eating there was, “just like being back in France.” Make sure to make reservations ahead of this time so you will be able to enjoy a seat at this popular Philadelphia hot spot.

If you want a break from the history lesson and want to enjoy the world today, the Philadelphia Zoo is a hot spot for entertainment. As the oldest of its kind in America, the Philadelphia Zoo houses close to two-thousand animals. They have some of the rarest creatures you will ever find in a zoo. The zoo has white lions, polar bears, pandas and even giant river otters. Make sure to check ahead for admission costs and operating hours. Also, the parking is $10 per vehicle, so carpool if there are a lot of you. Or, if you are not a fan of animals, try visiting the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

While in Philadelphia, you are going to need your own little heaven; you are going to need a comfortable place to stay. The Sofitel Philadelphia is a hotel that captures a pure European enchantment and is located directly in the heart of the city. Being so, you are right within walking distance of shopping plazas and great restaurants. With large classy rooms at about $135 a night, you are sure to enjoy your plush bed. Sleeping will never be the same again.

I would not recommend Philadelphia for a trip where you only desire rest and relaxation. This is a hot spot to experience some history and see some interesting sites. Philadelphia is a great way to enjoy the true history of this nation.
