Washington D.C.

As one of the worlds most talked about cities, Washington D.C. has a lot to taste, see and experience. From the ethnically diverse cuisine of Adams Morgan, to the historical Capitol Hill, there are endless things to do. Here are a few tips to help you enjoy your stay in the beauty of Washington D.C. and her wonders.

When on vacation, one of the pleasures in life is a great dining experience. You could visit a long line of chain restaurants such as the Hard Rock Café or Legal Seafood, but who wants the same old eating experience? If you enjoy trying something different, the Blues Alley is the place for dinner and music. The club is reminiscent of the old venues in the 1920’s. Blues Alley has had many great performers appear on stage. From Dizzy Gillespie, to Pat Metheny and Wynston Marsalis the club has become internationally showcased. This place is pretty popular so it is recommended to place a reservation.

If you want to be a super tourist, there are a few sites that you can not miss seeing. The U.S. Botanic Garden is a plant museum come to life. The Holocaust Memorial Museum is quite the sight. The museum exhibits a timeline starting from the Nazi rise to power in 1933 and up to the fall of the Third Reich in 1945. The operating hours are 10am-5:30, which will give you plenty of time to get some breakfast. Washington D.C. is known for its architecture, so plan on taking note. Downtown Washington D.C. holds the location of the White House and the Capital Building. You can not leave D.C. without seeing these two buildings in person.

Despite all the dinning and sightseeing you will be enjoying, you need a place to rest your head. A great hotel with an extravagant location is the Phoenix Park Hotel. With no more than two blocks from the Capital and about a block from Union Station, your bed is a hop, jump and a skip away. You could always walk the distance though. Who knows, you may find yourself enjoying your vacation a little too much at the Dubliner. This Famous Irish restaurant and Pub located within the hotel will keep you entertained. You will enjoy the short walk home after a long night.

For those looking for a place to flash some plastic, the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District at 1025 Connecticut Avenue is a start. This thirty-eight block area is a prime location to shop, dine and walk around. The Golden Triangle is occupied by uniformed business improvement ambassadors to assure your assistance and maintain the area. The Metro carries thousands of people there every day. This is a must see for those shopaholics.

From the International Spy Museum to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington D.C. is an amazingly diverse place to visit. Make sure to taste, see and experience a variety of new things; after all that is what a vacation is all about.
