Central Park in New York

New York may have a profusion of landmarks and must see spots, but for the majority of tourists, Central Park is one of the most sought after destinations. Located in Manhattan, this park is breathtaking. Its natural beauty is not only miles long, but it is in walking distance of the Belvedere Castle and the zoo. With so many different activities in just one area, this is the perfect day trip for anyone, regardless if you are alone or have a family of five.

While some see Central Park as just being an average place to get a tan, it actually has a lot more to offer. It is the one place in New York that is not fast paced and hectic. People can actually come here and forget that they are in such a frenzied city. It is a beautiful thing to forget where you are, and experience such serenity for free. Most visitors enjoy rollerblading, ice skating in the winter, and relaxing on the grass. Surprisingly, these aren’t all of the activities that take place. Central Park often hosts Shakespeare plays, concerts, and puppet shows. Entertainment in this venue is superb, as it is big enough to fit hundreds of people at one time. The best part about it is that it’s generally free of cost, unless it is a charity event or something out of the ordinary. For vacationers, these plays in the park are quite different than anything they’ve ever experienced. Baseball fields and ice skating rinks also line the recreational area, which makes it easy for anyone to spend hours upon hours there.

The beauty of Central Park is that there is something for everyone. You may just want to take a nap beside a tree or have a picnic with your husband. A lot of people purchase subs from a local deli or bakery and spend the day chatting and soaking up the sun. Looking to relax? There are chariot rides regularly, which are beautiful to experience if you are willing to shell out a few dollars. This is a wonderful way to experience the entire park, without having to run around all day.

If you want something with more adventure, you could always attend the zoo. This is great for children of all ages, regardless of how easily distracted they get. It is full of excitement and is surprisingly very affordable. While this is across Central Park, there are plenty of other alternatives. Have your children bring kites to fly or set up a game of baseball. No matter how energetic your kids are, they can easily enjoy what Central Park has to offer.

Although New York is not usually known for its serene atmosphere, Central Park is one exception. While the city lights and frenzied crowd is what brings people to the Big Apple, Central Park calms them down. It is full of life and culture at every glance. From entertainment to outdoor activities and just plain relaxing – the place has it all. Most would recommend that you avoid the park during late evening hours or early morning due to recent hazards. Nevertheless, if you are with a group of people and want to take a stroll, you will be perfectly fine. After all, Central Park never sleeps.
