Chicago

Chicago is one of the most popular vacation spots in the United States. With such a wide range of activities, this is probably one of the reasons that the windy city is so appreciated and loved. No matter what time of year it is, vacationers love flocking to this getaway. Although it is no where near a tropical paradise or a beach resort, Chicago offers much more than sun tanning. It is a place to learn about culture, experience tasty cuisine, and see the sights.

Hotels in Chicago are extremely easy to find. Since it is a busy city just like New York, hotels line the streets as if millions of people were visiting each week. One of the favorite places to stay is the Swissotel Hotel. For only $189 a night, you can easily live in luxury during your vacation. This beautiful building was designed by famous architect, Harry Weese. As a result of his masterpiece, you can see the city skyline at night, no matter what room you are in. With oversized rooms, luxurious beds, and magnificent amenities, it is clear why people love this hotel.

While hotels are quite the favorite area in Chicago, there are dozens of other attractions. The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the most prominent places to visit. With thousands of remarkable paintings from painters around the globe, The Art Institute is well known in every part of the world. Fortunately, there are re-prints, posters, and other items available, if you are in love with the artists. Surprisingly, the tickets are very cheap. Adults are $10, while children and students are a mere $6.

Not into art? Chicago still has you covered. The Sears Tower is an extremely well known landmark that has appeared on postcards all over the world. Most vacationers love going to the Sears Tower Skydeck to see the entire city. While you have to pay $10.00 to go to that area, you can still see the same amount if you get a drink at the lounge. The majority of people would much rather spend the $10.00 on a martini, rather than just for the view.

If you are into entertainment, the Oprah Winfrey show is also taped in Chicago. Located in the Greektown neighborhood, you can finally see the woman herself tape a series of shows. Unfortunately, no walk ins or e-mail reservations are allowed. You absolutely have to reserve your spot months in advance, which can be a pain if you do not know you are vacationing until last minute. Nevertheless, if you have the opportunity to attend an Oprah show, it is highly recommended. Just think – the entire nation would love to be in your shoes!

For the rest of the world, Chicago is just as amazing as New York City. It is beautiful, breathtaking, and full of wonderful attractions. Entertainment thrives as plays, talk shows, and movies get constantly filmed in the area. Regardless of what type of vacation you want to have, Chicago can provide you with a trip to remember. There are dozens of luxurious hotels and eateries; it just is up to you do the research. With a strong sense of what you want to do, Chicago can be your home away from home.
