Great Barrier Reef

Great Barrier Reef Australia
If you have ever heard of Australia, chances are you have seen pictures of the Great Barrier Reef. It not only has become a national backdrop for thousands of photo books and postcards, but it is in fact the largest coral reef in the world. To many, it is a stunning and awe inspiring site, especially when this phenomenon can even be seen in outer space! Nevertheless, it is a place that everyone in their life should visit at least once.

With over three million people visiting this beautiful destination each year, it is no wonder that the Great Barrier Reef is a celebrity. Unfortunately, with so many people inhabiting the area, damage has occurred and pollution has taken over. Since the rise of problems in the reef, the Reef Water Quality Protection Reef Plan has been created.

Although humans have been a large problem to the beautiful reef, marine life has also done its part. For instance, the crown of thorns starfish is the most dangerous predator in the region. Decades ago, this creature has been breaking down and destroying the reef, leaving sea creatures to fend for themselves. Fortunately, breakouts do not occur frequently, leaving the Barrier Reef safe in many instances.

While there are dangers in the Great Barrier Reef, there is also extreme beauty. Green turtles, dolphins and an array of whales live in the area. Still not impressed? Over 4000 types of mollusks also roam the reef looking for food. Regardless of how much you enjoy marine life, it is an amazing thought to think that there are so many types of creatures living there.

Given that the Greet Barrier Reef is infamous for its tourists, it is no surprise that over 400 tour companies bring two million people to the site each year. From cruise ships to island resorts, people come flocking to this destination because it is so stunning. While there are many activities in the area, Reef Water Quality Protection prevents tourists from fishing and walking in certain areas. After all, it is important that the reef stays perfect. By ruining it or having people pollute, it will only cause more problems for the reef itself and the creatures that live there.

For any tourist looking for a beautiful place to wander around, the Great Barrier Reef is certainly it. It is full of lucid blue water and hundreds of colorful fish. Just to have the opportunity to experience this worldwide phenomenon is a dream come true. While it is important to not pollute the area, it is even more important to recognize nature’s beauty. Many tourists enjoy staying as close to the area as possible, since the backdrop is similar to a breath taking picture. Regardless of where you stay in Australia, you must take this trip to the Great Barrier Reef. It is not only an affordable place to visit, but it will give you a new perspective on wildlife, nature, and the beauty of the sea.
