Belize Travel Guide
Belize has a lot to offer travelers, including the amazing Belize Barrier Reef, which is one of the largest living coral reefs in the world. Scuba divers come to Belize to experience the incredible underwater environment, although diving isn't the only thing this country has to offer. While in Belize, you can spend time on the beautiful beaches, check out the historic Mayan architecture or go on a birdwatching tour. And that's not all!
Belize also has an amazing nightlife, including several casinos that provide fun and excitement from dusk until dawn. If you enjoy shopping, you won't be disappointed with the multitude of shops, boutiques and stores in this tropical location. You'll also love the variety of amazing dining establishments which offer everything from fresh seafood and local cuisine to international favorites. Once you visit this sunny paradise, you'll definitely want to return again and again!
Belize City
If you're in the mood for history and culture, check out the Museum of Belize. In the 19th century, the museum served as a prison. Today, it features exhibits on the history of the city as well as ancient Mayan pottery. Or, visit historical destinations like the House of Culture or the Baron Bliss Lighthouse Monument, both popular tourist spots.
Old Belize is also another top tourist attraction, and is located only a few minutes from central Belize City. Old Belize combines history and culture with modern fun, featuring not only a historical exhibit but also a marina at Cucumber Beach.
This beach is close to the Belize Barrier Reef, which is the second largest living coral reef in the world today. Here you can swim in the crystalline water, or simply relax on the beach with a frozen drink. Check out Tataduende, a beachfront bar serving up all your favorite cocktails. If you're in the mood for something more adventurous, Cucumber Beach offers activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing and even helicopter tours.
Another popular attraction just outside of Belize City is the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center. In addition to simply being a zoo, it is also a rescue center for abandoned animals. Some people attempt to keep wild animals as pets and abandon them when they find they cannot care for them.
These animals are unable to survive in the wild, so the zoo takes care of them. These rescued animals play a large role in educating visitors about wildlife and the environment. Another attraction located close to the city limits is Gran's Farm. Here you'll find exotic fruit for sale, boating excursions, swimming, hiking and more.
Belize City also offers great dining, shopping and accommodations for travelers to enjoy. Cuisine in this international tourist spot includes everything from traditional Belize dishes to international food and everything in between.
If you love to shop, you'll find large shopping malls and small boutiques catering to every merchandise need. Lodging in Belize City includes inns, cottages, condos and luxurious hotels. Whether you're seeking a laid-back getaway or an exciting adventure, you'll find it in this metropolitan destination.
