The Leek series includes some of our most popular knives. And no wonder. Kershaw's Leeks offer Ken Onion's distinctive design as well as the SpeedSafe ambidextrous assisted opening system. With SpeedSafe, the user can smoothly and easily deploy the blade with one hand, either left or right. Leeks come in a variety of handle styles, some with technologically advanced coatings for enhanced performance. For example, the bead-blasted stainless steel handle offers strength and beauty. A handle with black Tungsten DLC coating produces a Leek with a non-reflective surface. For lightweight and a one-of-a-kind look, choose our "smoked" double-anodized aluminum finish in two colors. Or choose our new Pink Leek with it's fashionable pink anodized aluminum handle, the Rainbow Leek with its titanium oxide coating that produces a highly scratch resistant, brilliant, rainbow finish. Also new in 2007 is our Random Leek with a modified Tanto blade for cutting power and chromium nitride coating for hardness and corrosion resistance. For ease of carrying, all Leeks include a reversible/removable pocket clip.

I own a Kershaw 1840st shallot and love it. I bought this one thinking it was just a smaller version of the shallot. It is smaller, but also cheaper. Doesn't have near the feel of quality. Would not recommend this Onion.

Can't say anything bad about this - knife is very slim, very sharp, and I love the speed safe. I'm not sure why others said this knife is "too" sharp, isn't that the purpose of a knife? :)

A good knife should be sharp, of course. But it should also be designed so that it's reasonably challenging to cut yourself when closing it. My friend was badly cut by his. You can see that other reviewers here an Amazon were too. Go with Spyderco instead.

Been carrying this type of knife for quite some time. First knife the torsion bar broke, so Kershaw sent me a replacement. Knife was easy to fix if you have the right torx screwdriver. But I eventually lost it so I had to order this one. Also, I remove the safety catch. I have never had the knife open in my pocket. However, I have had it open when I dropped it. Easy to sharpen, holds an edge. Not too large, not too small, and slim. Nice feature of either opening with thumb or index finger. Excellent knife.

A great knife at a terrific price!
I could hardly believe it when I saw the price (half of MSRP).
I don't understand why the black model was a little cheaper
than the uncoated Stainless Steel model though.
The MSRP for those knives is the other way around.
I had owned, and lost, an uncoated one and after
a suitable period of mourning sought a replacement.
I now like my new black one just fine.
The "Speed Safe" feature is a wonder and this knife is
just the right size for everyday carry.
The drop-point style blade also suites me just fine.
