This USA made Ka-Bar Becker Campanion is a stout knife. It is probably, well it is the most heavy duty knife I have ever held and used. It will take a beating and not break! You can split wood with this knife and the tang is 1/4 inch thick! This knife is a clunker and weighs 1 pound. Yes, it is defintely a heavy knife and don't buy it for a light weight hiking knife. It's a serious survival, off the trail, camping knife that will last a life time. You can sharpen this knife to no end! A great knife that hold it's own with other serious survival knives with a better price too!

This knife isn't pretty at all, it's plain and simple. It's not light, it's not stainless, but it's awesome! There is no doubt in my mind that this is the knife you need when you run out of bullet's for hunting/survival. It didn't come razor sharp, but then again I didn't expect it to. It did come sharp enough to split a whole lot of wood on my patio though. After I split the wood, I tried to throw it into my fence like my other knife's. Not a good idea cause it hit flat and knocked off the darn picket into my neighbor's yard, still would've hurt pretty bad if it hit someone. My neighbor then came over and was admiring it so much that he ordered one from his Iphone right then and there. After we whacked all the tree limbs off that we could reach I got a stone out and put a nice edge on it. If you want a knife that will last that you can beat the hell out of, this is it, yeah it's not stainless and the finish wears off but so what!? At this price it's just an awesome knife to have when SHTF!

This is a great knife. It is heavy, strong, sharp, and feels good in your hand. 2 things could have been better, the finish on the blade wears off with use, and I would like to see a stainless version.

As others have said this is nice hefty piece of steel. At 1/4" thick it's fairly heavy but that also makes it likely that in a camping/hunting/survival situation you're not going to have to worry about breaking it. Mine came with a decent edge, it cut leather but definitely benefited from some work on a sharpening stone, which seems to be the norm with knives today. The sheath is also nice the knife locks in fairly securely without using the added security strap. On your hip you don't even notice the weight of the knife but when you hold it you know you can chop through a fair size branch if you need to. I've looked at much higher priced knives that won't do any better than this one.

After reading the early reviews on the BK2 I bought one. It was my baby until my brother who is overseas asked for it ( Drat ). So naturally being the big brother, I handed it over to him (with a few minor whimpers). Then I bought another one and an old friend of mine took a shine to it. Guess what? Yep, that's two of them gone.
Now my plan is buy two so that I have at least one to fall back on. Everyone's going on about how great the BK2 is. It is that and more, but here's a biting criticism of the knife. I just can't seem to hold onto mine! It's that good. I've been pining for a survival / camping / hunting knife for over two years until I saw the BK2. It's an unbelievable knife. Both mine came hair shaving sharp at an extremely reasonable price; and best of all it's made in The U.S.A.
Ka-Bar and Becker could teach a few things to those who send our jobs overseas.
