 "Serious "Birder"on a budget" 2010-03-11

By Braveheart Brian (France)

I am passionate about ornithology, but being a musician i dont have a large budget.

I read the 5 star reviews on Amazon,so i thought "go for it".The price was right.

These binos have excellent image quality at short to middle distances and will serve you very well but where they fall short is thets say you spot a white bird beyond 1/2 a mile, there is a faint pink tinge around the bird at these greater distances, weird but true.It is the same with white buildings as well.

They are light. The focus ring is quick and precise and the build quality is good. The protective plastic eyepieces are crap(after 3hrs use they broke !!!!!!!!.)

Summery. If your looking for good low price binos, they will do the job,but you get what you pay for.If you are serious about your hobby you will need to pay more.

 "Satisfied User" 2010-02-11

By William T. Crenshaw (CORDELE, GA, US)

I am plesenntly surprised to find that the Nikon binoculars are as good as a lot of the high dollar models.

These binoculars are easy to use and are not bulky, nor heavy. Thanks Amazon for offering this item at such an affordable price for people of my socioeconomic level.

"Good binocs - lens caps, not so much" 2010-01-31

By John T. Bischoff (Boise, ID)

These binoculars are great for the price, with a couple of caveats. They perform well in rain. However, the lens caps keep coming off. The one piece cap for the eyepieces is too large for the rubber eyecaps and continually falls off. The attached caps on the other end fit, more or less, just coming off some times. I have a pair of Nikon compact binocs, and the caps work OK.

It's a shame that 50 cents worth of plastic keeps this from being a 5 star product.

"Excellent Value for the Price" 2010-01-19

By R. Thomas

The Nikon 7432 Monarch Binoculars are rugged, yet lightweight, with an excellent field of vision and great clarity. They are ideal for general use, e.g. sporting events, hunting and bird watching. An excellent value for the price.

"Perfect for the average hunter!" 2009-12-28

By Bradley Vandyke (Vansant, VA United States)

I love these Binoculars! I bought these binos to use while hunting and at the occasional sporting event or concert I get attend. Like many working people, I only get to hunt a few times days during the season. I was looking for a nice set of binos that had great features (waterproof, fogproof, etc.) without spending ridiculous money like the pros do. I read many reviews and decided on the Monarch ATB's. I love them! For the money you will not beat them. They are clear, have great light transmission, adjust easily, and are perfect size. Like others have said the lens covers pop off a little too easily but nothing that a little doctoring won't take care of. I looked through my buddies $1100 binos and there is very little difference. I laughed at him after he looked through these. I think he was a little sick when he found out how much I paid compared to the amout he paid.

I would buy these again in a heartbeat. Great purchase!!

"A good moderately priced binocular." 2010-03-30

By Mother Hen (Jerome, Idaho)

I did lots of research before deciding to purchase the Nikon Monarch binoculars. I am so pleased with them and the ease with which I can wear my glasses with them.

I mainly am using them for birdwatching, and the other great feature for me is that they are perfect for up close viewing too. I am very, very happy with my purchase and would recommend them highly.

"Nikon 8x40 are the best value for the money." 2010-02-27

By D. Gutcher (Salem,OR.)

These binoculars are very, very good for the money, and compare with $1000 Bins.,or higher.I bought these after reading an article by a local birder, and using them for 2nd. pair.

"durable, very clear, easy to use" 2010-02-21

By Jordan (Poughkeepsie, NY)

purchased these as a gift for my mother who is a backyard bird watcher and she loves them. easy to use, durable, lightweight, and they are very clear. the only thing i do not like are the viewing lens caps. they do not press on snugly like the large lens caps. other than that, very satisfied.

"have mine for a week now (8X 42) Monarch ATB Nikon 7430 purchased from Amazon" 2010-02-10

By Whitneymuse (California)

I get the reviewers' comments about the great glasses but the lack of heft gave caution; mine, no internal fogging; but, I've not been in inclement weather or even in cold. I hate the lens covers for both the lenses. Also, since Nikon came out with a new model on Amazon's site, went for the non-new one for 50 USD less. Have the 1000 USD heavy superior Swarovski glasses; these Nikons are so far superior in comfort and nearly as clear and comparable to the swarovskis, I've not had them A-B compared to Leicas; I've used the Leica glasses that one reviewer mentioned; and, no it doesn't have the "heft" of the Leica glasses; however, the Leicas are 5X the cost, too.

The person whose review said that they took these on a Safari and found that their lightness and cost gave them comfort in carrying them without fear of breaking a $Grand pair of glasses was compelling; Now that I have mine, too, I agree. As I have a thousand dollar pair that are heavier and a slight bit brighter in low light; I only wish that these had been out over 15 years ago when I forked out that much for them, there's no contest between for the dollar and convenience which is better and which I'd pick today if the Nikons had existed then: the Nikons hands down.

 "Excellent value." 2010-02-03

By Jeff (Tampa)

I wanted the lightest pair of 8x42 binocs and found these. I've used these along with my Leica Duovids and cannot see a $1,800 difference. An excellent bright image. Great value.
